What do I need to do to get 5*s on Medium Difficulty in Guitar Hero2?

I have been trying to unlock guitars, but have run into a problem getting 5 stars on Medium Difficulty. Is there a trick to this?

the score is what does it. The higher the more stars. Here are my strategies. Unless you are dying, don't use your star power until you have a 4X multiplyer going. That way when you kick in the power you'll be getting 8X the score. And also after you get the hang of that, then you can hold your star power untill you know a series of double notes are coming up, then you can get 8X on those. Wait till you get up to hard and expert, then you can start getting 8X on tripple notes, that's where it's at. OH%26lt; and whammy the hell out of the song.
