I have dark brown hair, do I need to lighten my hair before I dye it medium ash brown?

Do I need to bleach it or something like that, or can I dye it directly to medium ash brown?

Also, would medium ash brown look good on olive colored skin?

DONT BLEACH IT!

It will go orange!

You should just get it done professionally, they'll do all of that for you. If not, you should just go lighter gradually, and slowly.

Otherwise it is more than likely that your hair will turn out orange or mustard coloured, and noone wants that!
Reply:unfortunately yeah

yeah i think it;d look good with olive skin x
Reply:Ok first off color will not lift color. This means that you will have to bleach your hair and then tone it to the desired color This can only be done corectly by a qualified stylist. Your may want to considere just using heavy foils of your desired color for a multi - tonal effect it will look more natural and will be much safer for you.

As for the skin tone question. first make sure you know your correct skin tone for sure. This can best be evaluated by a stylist. However, If your skin is olive then you have alot of yellow in your skin and you do not want to bring that out. you are best off with a cool color and ash is a very cool color. What ever you do DO NOT USE GOLD. remeber yellow skin is only pretty on lemons and bananas :)

hope it helps

Reply:If you dont bleach it first it wont turn out as light as you would probably like it but bleaching it first will damage your hair.

Have you written your question wrong? Is is medium ash BLONDE? If so, you would need to bleach it but you should deffinetly get this done at the hairdresser, I have tried to dye my hair blonde before and it turned out yellow and its condition was awful!

It would suit you but not as much as your own hair colour!
