How much food should you be giving a medium size dog a day?
As others have suggested, it's well worth looking into feeding a high quality dry food diet, it is much better for them, particularly their teeth. You can also feed a raw meaty bone once per week (this was recommended by my vet for tooth care) You should be able to tell if your dog is eating the right amount of food; she should have a clearly defined waist and you should be able to feel her bottom two ribs.
Reply:sounds about right to me but you should check with your vet to make sure.

vets do recommend that you feed your dog dry food rather than tin food as it is nutritionally better for dogs.
Reply:I feed my staffie 8oz of dried food a day so what you are feeding yours sounds about right to me
Reply:I would read the back of the packets of dog food that you have . I have a 6 month old labrador and all the packets stated different things. It usually depends on the weight of the dog which to can be done free at the vets

my puppy is big for her age ive been told so I changed to large breed puppy food and now shes content after eating!!!

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR QUEST¬!
Reply:I own a british bulldog and she gets 1 tin of tinned food twice a day with dry food mixed in once in a morning and once in the evening i find that this keeps her a ta satisfactory weight and not like a beefcake!!!!

hope this helps
Reply:It sounds about right, if she is at a good weight, no fat you are feeding her the right amount.
Reply:i have a greatdane and he eats a large tin meat and a mop bucket of dryed food a day
Reply:no canned food,,,, feed high quality dry kibble per packages instructions ,, then adjust for your dogs activity level, metabolism etc.... your dog will not get the nutrition it needs from a handful of dry food.... canned food is mostly water.... please educate yourself
Reply:Hi.

Reply:About one post - person, and a few biscuits. 1.5 tins a day with some biscuits and ash, served twice a day. No grease or choccies, as the former causes diabetes, and the latter is poisonous - and to humans!
