Does anyone have a recipe for a homemade Crackle Medium?

I want to make my own crackle paint medium, and I have heard there is a way to make it with white glue and something else. Any information would be most appreciated.

Does anyone have a recipe for a homemade Crackle Medium?
Glue and water.
Reply:Yes,

First paint the peice with paint

Then let it dry till it is sticky

Put another coat of paint on top of that and wait till it is sticky

Then put white glue on top of this and blow dry with a blowdryer and it wll crack!
Reply:Crackle medium is nothing but white glue....like Elmers.

What do you think about my paragraph about my Medium term professional goal?

My Medium term professional goal is to try to find a permanent job that is office based, and not too physically demanding. To go on the internet, newspaper, etc. to find possible job placements, to update my cover letter, and resume. If got accepted for going to an interview, arrange time and date to go. If you got accepted to the job(s), take the one that is the best suited for me.

What do you think about my paragraph about my Medium term professional goal?
There are a few grammatical errors, but, all in all, it is an acceptable paragraph. Good job.

Best way to invest a few thousand dollars in medium-risk investments?

I have next to zero experience in investing, since I am just out of high school. I have around 2000-4000 dollars I am willing to invest in medium-risk investments. Although I've done a bit of research myself, I'd like to get a rundown of what is safe yet shows good growth. I know high-risk would involve small-cap "penny" stocks, while for a safer bet there are Mutual Funds. Yet my cash is limited, and I'm not willing to do anything risky, such as margin accounts for stocks. Can anyone please explain what I should really do with my money for the best growth?

Best way to invest a few thousand dollars in medium-risk investments?
I'm a novice just like you.. But I would recommend you invest it in stocks.. Open an account with Zecco trading and buy 4 lots of stocks totaling 1000 dollars per lot and watch that grow..

You def. wont lose your money..

Stocks I recommend

AAPL (apple)

DRYS

TBSI

RIMM

Those stocks are sure to grow within the year..
Reply:Penny stocks are like tossing your money out the window. Mutual funds are good, but usually come with a higher fee. If you open an account at a deep discount broker like TDAmeritrade, you can deposit your money, and buy directly for around $10 a trade. You can buy shares that directly mimic the S%26amp;P or Dow (like the QQQQ or DIA). You can also directly buy good blue chip stocks, like CVX (one of my favorites). Good luck.
Reply:You most definitely CAN lose money investing in stocks - even "blue chip" ones - as equity markets are by nature volatile and cyclical. I would suggest a good no-load mutual fund. There are many funds which range from conservative to speculative. Most people who try to "flip" and trade stocks wind up losing money. But before investing any money, do some learning. There are a number of good books available (Mutual Funds For Dummies is a favorite - very easy to read). In the meantime, park your money in a money-markey fund account where it'll be safe and you'll earn a decent interest rate. Good luck.

What short/medium celebrity hairstyle do you think is cutest?

Im getting a haircut tomorrow and i cant think of any short/medium hairstyles i like, any ideas?

I want it between shoulders and jaw, maybe bangs?

kirsten dunst has a cute cut :)
Reply:Reese Witherspoon in Just Like Heaven?

Reply:jennifer anistons
Reply:Maybe something like your avatar? That's super cute!
Reply:If you do get bangs, have them very short, because these days many people, have long bangs and not only is it ugly but it's becoming extremely unoriginal. Have it about jaw length, and never never never get an inverted mullet (longer on the top and shorter on the bottom) because that's never cute. and in the process of your hair growing out (when you do want it to grow out) it looks terrible and it's hard to style. Get a hair cut that is long enough for you to change your hair style without having to cut it again. Most people make this mistake when they get their hair cut, they cut it SO short to the point that they have to keep it in the same style until it grows out. And you don't want to be a Plain Paula, or a Bland Bettie. You want to be able to change it up every once and a while

I have a strong discrimination/retaliation case in Federal Court.

However, the Judge was so biased against me because I was a pro se plaintiff. I believe that I have to ask helps from mediums otherwise there will be no way to get justice.

Is it OK to use gradual tanners for medium/dark skin on skin that is fair?

I am talking about the gradual tanners like Jergens Natural glow and such. I know that I CAN, but I have naturally fair skin and usually use the fair skin formulas. If I just went ahead and used the one for medium skin, would it work just as well and faster, or will it be too orangey/dark on my fair skin? Advice from anyone who has tried this? I don't want to look like an oompa loompa.

Is it OK to use gradual tanners for medium/dark skin on skin that is fair?
Yes it is def. okay. I have very fair skin and I use the Jergens Natural glow for medium skin. For me it does work faster than the one for fair skin and it does not look fake or orange. My suggestion would be to but it and try it on your legs to see if you like it first. But I would def. recommend it!
Reply:i think if youve been using the lotion for fair skin for awhile, that it should be ok to "upgrade" to the next level...i dont think its gonna make your skin orange
Reply:I have medium/dark skin and I've tried tanners specific for my skin tone, and I still looked orange. Don't do it! Use a very light and gradual tanner.
Reply:No its not ok... unless you want to look really orange. It will not blend well with your skin tone! So if you miss a spot it will be way funny looking. If you get the kind that is made for your skin tone, it will blend way better.

i suggest you apply a darker color for the base and a lighter one to match your hair
Reply:Try to bring out your eye color, by using blue eye shadows with black eyeliner. For your cheeks and lips, try to contact MAC on line. They have cosmetogoists on live chat, who could help you with coloring. Good Luck!
Reply:You are so lucky! You can wear color that compliments your haircolor and accents your eyes at the same time. Use peachy-coppery-bronzey shades--they'll look totally natural against your hair and skin, and the orange in the shades is the opposite of blue, so your eyes will pop. Finish with peachy blush or bronzer on the cheeks and peachy or coppery gloss.

How can you make sure your steak is medium rare?

without like cutting it open.

medium rare, not rare.

thanks :)

How can you make sure your steak is medium rare?
For medium rare

Cook on one side until moisture is just visible on top surface

Turn once (only)

Cook on other side until surface moisture is visible

Press with back of tongs (or fork, or spoon or whatever)

Steak will feel 'soft' (but not 'very soft'). Internal temperature approx. 45C

For medium

As above but steak should feel 'springy'. Temp 45C

For Medium well

As above, but moisture should be pooling on top. Reduce heat slightly and cook until steak feels 'firm'. Temp 65C

For rare

Cook for a few minutes each side. Steak will feel 'very soft'. Temp 35C

It may take a couple of tries before you become confident, but you'll soon get the hang of it.
Reply:To make sure that the steak is medium rare without cutting it open is just one way to do it. The only way is by practicing you start gaining cooking experience and just know when is medium rare or well done. So, for now just cut it open and after cooking it a few times you could tell when it is medium rare. Good Luck. :)
Reply:I taught myself how to do it by feel. When you get the hang of it you can even use the back of a fork and you can tell by the resistance of the meat you are pressing on. Works every time. Before that I cut a little slit in it and peeked inside. Do both and you will soon learn how it should feel without looking.
Reply:put your hand into a fist with your thumb on top of your pointer finger's knuckle and touch the lump between your pointer finger and thumb on you're hand (should be squishy). If you VERY lightly squeeze your fist that is how a rare steak will feel, if you squeeze hard, that is how a well done steak will feel, and in between goes for the others, depending on how hard you squeeze
Reply:The only way you can tell for sure, is to cut it..... although (according to Bobby Flay) if you stick your finger into it, a rare steak will have alot of "give" and be slightly mushy.... a well done steak won't have any"give" at all......

Reply:As much as I hate to admit it, Bobby Flay is correct. Professionals chefs will use feel. For those who haven't cooked enough to develop a feel, your best bet is a meat thermometer. Even the digital ones only cost a few dollars now.

Here is a good website for temperatures.

There is one problem with a thermometer ( the reason pro's don't often use them) Once you stick the meat the juice will run out and you lose moisture. If you stick it to soon, it may over cook.

I've read and heard that it's dangerous to cook with olive oil on medium-high heat. Is this true?

I've read and heard that it's dangerous to cook with olive oil on medium-high heat. Is this true?

I've read also that it releases toxic radicals, which is why it's smells funky when it's heated in a pan like that.

I'm planning to make a hummus later, which requires me to heat up olive oil.

I've read and heard that it's dangerous to cook with olive oil on medium-high heat. Is this true?
I don't know if it is dangerous but I know that you can't heat olive oil real hot. I use it all the time for sauteing, but only under low-medium heat.
Reply:I never heard this before but I'm sure they are mistaken, you can cook olive oil any way you want.
Reply:i always use olive,,, never had a prob before

good luck
Reply:no that isnt tru u can fry with olive oil like chicken and stuff so it obviously isnt true...
Reply:Cooking oils (including olive oil) may give off fumes which increase the risk of cancer if heated to too high a temperature.
Reply:LIGHT olive oils can be used for HIGH-HEAT frying, because

the filtration process for this light-style oil also gives it a higher smoke point than regular olive oil.

Whereas regular olive oil is better suited for LOW- to MEDIUM-HEAT cooking, as well as for many uncooked foods such as salad dressings and marinades.

The Facts: Excessively heating olive oil will evaporate the alcohols and esters which make up its delicate taste and fragrance. Heating olive oil will not change its health aspects, only the flavor. Use a cheaper olive oil which doesn't have much flavor to begin with if you want to fry with it, add a more flavorful olive oil after cooking or at the table.

Olive oil is a great oil for cooking. Strong flavored olive oils can be used for frying fish or other strong flavored ingredients. A mellow late harvest Mission variety oil could be used in baking a cake. Olive oil has a high smoke point, 410 degrees F, and doesn't degrade as quickly as many other oils do with repeated high heating. Use a variety of healthy vegetable oils when preparing food and incorporate a good extra virgin olive oil when you want its health benefits and wonderful Mediterranean flavor.

What do you do if you order a medium hot chocolate, and get a large?

Twice now I've gone in to Dunkin Donut's, and ask for a medium hot chocolate with whipped cream.. YET! I get a large! What is this catastrophe? My friend is convinced that I look like a lawyer and they fear me taking them to court. What is YOUR take on the issue, Yahoo Answers?

What do you do if you order a medium hot chocolate, and get a large?
if I got a med hot chocolate and got a large I would take it back to the counter and tell them they made a mistake, i ask for a medium. Or maybe they are just being nice and they might have been out of medium cups if it happens again ask them
Reply:I would tell them that I didn't order a large, and most likely they would just say to keep it.
Reply:If they put whipped cream on it they have to put it in a larger cup so the whipped cream fits under the lid. Honestly if you are that concerned that you may be getting a LARGE go somewhere else for your hot chocolate or make it at home yourself
Reply:Just enjoy it. i would .... lol

What color shoe for a white dress w/ medium sized navy polka dots?

I am attending a friend's wedding and then heading to a party afterwards, so I'd like something that will stand out for the party, but still be appropriate for a wedding. I'm 5'3" so something over 3" is preferable. I don't want to do the whole "matchy-match" with a navy shoe to go with the dress. The medium size I'm referring to is about the size of a silver dollar.

Try some metallic gold or silver shoes!

Olive oil helps to slow the cooking process and is very stable at high temperatures, making it an excellent choice for many different types of cooking methods. When used for cooking, olive oil brings out the true flavors of food and it retains all of its nutritional benefits, even when cooking with high heat.

Cooking with high heat does not change the basic properties of olive oil, but it causes olive oil to lose some of its flavor.

Is it possible to dye dark brown hair to a medium brown colour?

My hair is dark brown. It is dye dark brown. I want to lighten it up to a medium brown but i dont really want to got to the extent of bleaching it or stripping it.

Can i just dye over the top with a medium brown colour or will it not show up?

Is it possible to dye dark brown hair to a medium brown colour?
Hey there, Im a hairdresser and you can NOT remove colour(tint or semi) WITH COLOURr. The only way you could go lighter is

a) strip it back a few shades and colour over it...if your hair is in fairly good condition this is possible without much damage.

b) gradually lighten with foils...either way BLEACH baby!!! It is the key and it is great stuff!!
Reply:You can not lift color with color. You can darken color with color but NOT lighten. You must lighten it first with bleach or color remover. Since you are not lifting much (dark to medium) you don't have to leave the bleach mixture on for long. When you rinse the bleach off it will be scary looking (orangy). Dry it COMPLETELY then apply the medium brown with a 20 or 30 volume developer. Should turn out fine. Go to professional to get the best results.

http://www.twi-lights.com/
Reply:of course its possible to dye your hair to a medium brown. i don't think that you should buy the same color hair dye that you want your hair to be, maybe a few shades lighter, like a blonde color if you want a medium brown.

its always better to get it done professionally though :-)
Reply:Yes but it might not show the actual lighter color right away depending on how dark your current hair is. I had mine dyed black and when I went to the salon to get it dyed red..it took three seperate visists before it actually showed bec my hair was so dark
Reply:if you have artificial color on your hair now and you want to go lighter you cant color it again to become lighter. if you put hair color over it it will just make it darker. the only way is bleach or stripping it or letting it fade.
Reply:I recommend going to a salon to dye it, if you want better results.

You can simply just apply onto the top though it'll show
Reply:You don't have to bleach your hair to go lighter u just have to dye it the color u want.
Reply:if your not getting it done professionally, i'd get a hair dye a few shades lighter of what you want! :]

If I normally heat my oil to 350 in an electric skillet, what heat would I set it on the stove top? Medium?

Or Medium High? I'm cooking chicken fried steak. Normally I cook it in an electric skillet but now I'm cooking it on the stove top in a cast iron skillet.

If I normally heat my oil to 350 in an electric skillet, what heat would I set it on the stove top? Medium?
Probably med-high to get it going, drop to med. once the steaks are in, then up to 375º again as you're close to being done, so they brown nicely.
Reply:Probably Medium High. If you get too much action, just turn it down a notch and wait a minute or two.

My point would be that all stove tops are different. Mine are wacky..I can't guess what they will do.

The only way to tell for sure is to use a thermometer.
Reply:the best is to get a deep frying thermometer. they are not that expensive and you can use it for other things. Like the other person said, 375 but do not turn it down when the food is in because it will cool down anyway. If you use too cool fat, your food will be greasy so temp is important.

Is it possible to go from a medium brown hair color to a natural blond?

I am going to a hair salon tomorrow AVEDA to get my hair cut and colored. I have what I believe to be medium brown hair, not 100% sure it could be considered dark aswell, but I have seen people with darker brown than mine.

I am wanting to put blond in my hair. I have had blond highlights once before but didn't like it because you really couldn't tell except when I stepped in the light just right.

I don't want to die my hair all the way blond, I don't want it to look fake. I want to go for a natural look. I want a brownish blond look, coloring hair is expensive so I want to look like I have blond in my hair.

I don't want a blond color that I will have to go touch up my roots every two or three weeks. Something that when my roots start to show they don't look to out of place?

Is it possible to reach this? How do I explain this to my stylist?

Sorry for the long ramble :S

Is it possible to go from a medium brown hair color to a natural blond?
Its absolutely possible to achieve the look you are wanting. Explain to your stylist exactly what you just said here. Your stylist will probably do foils, which is a method of high lighting your hair, but many different colors can be used.

As a hair stylist, if you came into my salon, I'd probably foil your hair with three different colors. My first color would be 1 level lighter than your natural color, the second color would be 3 levels lighter than your natural color and the third color would be 4 levels lighter than your natural. I would leave a thin piece (1/8th of an inch) of your natural color between each foil. After everything is done, all the colors will blend together giving you the look that you want. And because you have 4 colors in your hair (your natural plus the other three) it will look totally natural.
Reply:Well you may have to do lt a couple of times before you can get lt really blonde. l have brown hair to and l died my hair and lt went an auburn color. so l gave up. but you`ll have to do lt at least try lt about three times. lt`s eventually gonna turn blonde. lt was awful when l tried to get my hair to go blonde.
Reply:highlights prolly are u best choice
Reply:thats the same problem im having. im thinking of going a golden blonde so when my brown roots grow out i wont have to reach into my piggy bank and get touch-up money. look on the internet for celebrity hair color you like and print it out. take the photo to the stylist. Tell them " I am really picky about my hair, can you achieve this look". Make sure they sound and look confident. If they dont, go somewhere else. hair says alot about a woman
Reply:just like you eplained it to us. Just let her know that you want natural looking highlights, which are a few shades lighter than your natural color, and lighter and no matter what it will look "done". If you truly want it to look natural then sandy blonde highlights should look great with your loght brown hair. and also tell her to put highlights around the frame of your face but not where you can see it in the hairline around your face, know what I mean? Good luck!

What medium should I use to build a scale model?

I've been asked to make a scale model of this dudes backyard- he wants to use it to help him visualize some landscaping/renovating. i'm doing it in 1/4'' scale- not worried about that part. Im not sure what medium i should do this in. I was thinking Polymer clay might be the best....I want something that he can possibly manipulate a little. Is there any other good way to go about it? hmmm....

What medium should I use to build a scale model?
My home's yard, I drafted up the basic layout of measurements on graph paper (one square per foot) including the walkway, etc.. All that was permanent was traced in marker. All ideas was in pencil. Of course this is more of a planning blueprint than a model.

For a model, go to dollar store for a cookie sheet and make sure that a magnet will stick to it. You can paint it green for grass, etc.. or glue green felt or material on it, if you wish. Get magnets at the craft store and attach/glue to bottom of plastic trees, etc.. from hobby shops or of your own creation.

Blondes, what type of dye is good for dying light brunette hair to medium blonde?

Ok I've tried numerous dyes and they all just make my hair a squidge lighter, not the drastic change I am looking for. I would love to dye my hair from my light brown shade to medium blonde without bleaching it or doing anything funky like that. Any advice on what brand or type of dye would work well on my hair?

Blondes, what type of dye is good for dying light brunette hair to medium blonde?
Loreal Excellence or Loreal Preference
Reply:sunsilk has this foam stuff that will lighten your hair over two weeks, if you cant find any of it, why not go to a hair dresser and ask for streaks, as you have brown hair and if you put a few streaks in your hair it will lighten it, without having to bleach your whole head they only take a small amount of hair in each streak.
Reply:That's because you need to BLEACH to get your hair any type of blonde. You can't just get a blonde dye and put it on your hair an wait for it to turn blonde, it doesn't work that way. Blonde hair dye doesn't lighten hair like other dyes.

Is it safe to eat raw scallops or those that are cooked to medium rare?

I just cooked some scallops and although they were very fresh, I ate them at rare to medium rare.

Is it safe to eat raw scallops or those that are cooked to medium rare?
I am a former chef and went out on a scallop trawler (in Digby NS Canada) once and ate one fresh from the water, I am not sure were Angelique is from but I made ceviche with them and a medium rare scallop is more flavourful than one that is overcooked and rubbery.

With the tiny bay scallops, I make the sauce and put the fresh or defrosted ones in and let them sit, not heating them except for the sauce.

Believe me there are no wee beasties in them like other fish and seafood they are perfectly safe to eat either way, you cannot believe everything you hear on this site, I should know, with 20+ yrs as a chef in Canada and in the Far East and Jamaica, I have had my share.
Reply:No it's not. Scallops should be cooked medium.

Raw scallops can contain viruses, parasites or bacteria.
Reply:Personally, no, I would not eat any raw shellfish. Shellfish are bottom feeders and that grosses me out.

However, if you are sure that they are very fresh and were handled appropriately, then absolutely, you should be fine. Fresh seafood is usually safe to eat raw.
Reply:If they have come from a reliable source then yes they will be good.

Reply:did it never occur to you to phone them up and just ask?!!
Reply:For a party I would definately order more than 3. I called the other day and ordered some. They have the $5 deal, 3 or more medium pizzas - 1 topping, $5 each. I also asked how many I could order - he said I could order 100 if I wanted and they would still be $5.
Reply:$9.99, I think?
Reply:Mellow Mushroom pizza is way better but kinda pricey @ 15.40 + tax for 2 toppings....
Reply:Call your local Dominos Pizza. Every Dominos Pizza Place is different so I don't want to tell you a price and it be different when you call. I hope this helps.
Reply:Whatever you do, get a better pizza. Dominos isn't it. And despite the poster, below, neither is Little Caesars (gag).

Does a good pizza cost more? Yes. You'll forget about the price almost instantly, but you'll remember the better pizza for a long time.

Spend the extra couple of dollars, it will be worth it.

EDIT: Pretty sad if all you want is the cheapest - You obviously don't think much of your friends. If that's the case, just get some frozen 'cardboard' pizza from the grocery store. It will be the same as the 'cardboard' from Dominos, just cheaper.

I'm glad I have better friends.
Reply:Dominoes is garbage. Go somewhere else. Crust=2", sauce=1", toppings start 4" from the crust. Crust tastes like cardbaord. Buy from a local family shop, tell them you have a large group and you want to support family owned shop, ask if they will they give you a discount.
Reply:sometimes they have the 5+5+5 deal a medium pizza 1 topping for 5 bucks its great
Reply:Did you know that you can go to Little Caesars Pizza and get their pizzas for $5.00 a piece? I am not kidding,my family and I ALWAYS get three to four of these pizzas at a time when I am just too tired to cook from a long day at work!! Plus,it re-heats very well in the microwave and it tastes MUCH BETTER than Dominos pizza too!! I hope that this is helpful for you!! ;-)
Reply:please dont order dominos i worked there for over a year the pizza sucks *** like crazy!!!!!

What nutrients would be present in an agar medium used to grow microorganisms?

What nutrients would be present in an agar medium used to grow microorganisms?
Plenty 'o riboflavin!
Reply:The most common growth media for microorganisms are nutrient broths (liquid nutrient medium) or Lysogeny broth (LB medium).

Nutrient media:-

Undefined media (also known as basal or complex media) is an undefined media that contains:

* a carbon source such as glucose for bacterial growth

* water

* various salts need for bacterial growth

* a source of amino acids and nitrogen (e.g., beef, yeast extract).
Reply:Usually a carbon source, nitrogen source and a number of amino acids depending on the microorganism in question...

The aforementioned LB (Luria-Bertani) medium is a very simple medium containing only yeast extract, peptone and sodium chloride. Yeast extract contains a range of nutrient sources on its own already... Well...and agar of course, although that's just a gelling agent, and can't be used as a nutrient source by most microorganisms.
Reply:It depends what you intend to grow and what you are trying to acheive.....

The basic agar nutrient is called 'Broth' and is a meat extract.

For basic experiments some people cook and puree lambs liver and add that to the agar.

There are lots and lots of various mediums. If you intend to study one particular organism, let me know and I will tell you the best options.

Whats the best dog food for medium sized dogs?

I have a medium sized mutt and have been told that I need to switch dog foods. I’ve used kibbles and bits since he has been a puppy but I want to change to a better food. Is there food that would be better for his health and coat?

Whats the best dog food for medium sized dogs?
Iams, Eukanuba, Royal Canin, Purina, Pedigree, Kibbles and Bits, Science Diet etc are all horrible horrible foods. So stay very far away from them, thats the best thing you can do for your dog.

BARF/Raw diets are always the healthiest but do your research first. They are well worth the work though.

That said here's my list of foods that I would highly recommend, especially the grain free foods.

Grain Free Foods

TimberWolf (Not the ones mentioned above, the rest are not grain free)

http://timberwolforganics.com/

Solid Gold (Not the one mentioned above, the rest are not grain free)

http://www.solidgoldhealth.com/

This is not a complete list, but the best ones I could think of off the top of my head.

When looking for a good dog food you want to keep your eye out for a few important things.

1: The first ingredient should be a whole meat or a meal such as Chicken, Lamb, Venison etc. You will want to avoid food that has a by-product as the first ingredient.

2: Do not buy a food that has by-products in it. These are the leftovers of the leftovers and provide little to no nutritional value and can be harmful. They can be anything - including hooves, horns, feathers etc. They are ingredients from the animal that do not contain enough meat to be called meat.

3: Do not get a food that contains corn of any sort. Corn is an incredibly cheap filler and a grain that all dogs have trouble digesting, and is the cause of many allergies in dogs.

4: Avoid foods that contain soy or wheat. They are indigestible grains that are prone to causing allergies.

5: If you can, buy a food that does not contain any grains at all. Dogs did not evolve to eat grains and their digestive track is not suited for it. It can cause many allergies and health problems. A food free of grains tends to have a higher meat content and higher quality ingredients.

6: Avoid any food that has ingredients such as a "meat by-products/meal" or "poultry by-products/meal". These are non-specific animal remains.

Keeping an eye for all of these factors when choosing your dog food will help insure that you are at least getting a decent quality food.
Reply:There's several brands that are really, really good - Innova, Wellness, Orijen, Solid Gold, Timberwolf Organics, Canidae.

Of them all, Canidae is likely the cheapest, but all are more expensive than grocery store brands. The upside is that your dog will be healthier, and, because the good brands have more nutrition, rather than the cheap fillers, you end up feeding less.

All the above are good brands, but some dogs do better on some brands than others. For example, I tried switching my 3 greys to Wellness and for whatever reason, they couldn't tolerate, but did really well on Innova. You need to find the one right for your dog. When you do switch, you need to do it gradually - ideally over a period of 7 - 10 days to prevent your dog from getting diarrhea.
Reply:Stay away from cheap food's, to many fillers and no quality meat. Go with an all natrual dog food. It may cost little more but if you do the math it is cheaper in the long run, less visits to the Vet etc.

I swear on Life Abuandance you ger it at www.HealthyTownandCountryPets.com (delivered right to your door). You also can find good Foods in Natrual Pet Stores.

Good Luck ;-)
Reply:I would recommend Royal Canin. You can purchase it at most Pet stores. It is about $11.00 for a 6-8 pound bag (you save money if you buy the 35 pound bags for about $35.00). Kibbles %26amp; Bits is junk food for dogs. You will be amazed at the shiny coat, bright eyes and overal health improvement in your dog. Royal Canin also has cat food.
Reply:i would get your dog on bakers dry food. my staffies were on brawn but i've got them on bakers dry food.

full of calcium for stronger bones
Reply:Avoid foods such as Science Diet, Purina, Pedigree, Iams, Eukanuba, Nutro, Beneful, Kibbles %26amp; Bits, Ol' Roy, and other grocery store brands. They're full of corn, grain, byproducts, and useless fillers. Dogs are carnivores- they don't need grains! Some dogs tend to do exceptionally well on grain-free dog food, while others get diarrhea because it is too rich for them and do well on minimal-grain foods like Canidae.

I strongly recommend getting samples of different brands to see which your dog does better on. You can email each company separately; they'd be happy to send you small samples (usually about 1 cup of food).

Here is a list of premium dog food brands:

Canidae (cheapest deal out there- good quality food for cheap)

http://www.canidae.com

Wellness (has a grain-free formula) http://www.omhpet.com/wellness/

Nature's Variety (has a grain-free formula)

http://www.naturesvariety.com

Orijen (grain-free)

http://www.championpetfoods.com

Addiction Dog Food

http://www.addictionfoods.com

Solid Gold (has a grain-free formula)

http://www.solidgoldhealth.com

Innova

http://www.naturapet.com/brands/innova.a...

Innova EVO (grain-free)

http://www.naturapet.com/brands/evo.asp

California Natural (same company as Innova/Innova EVO)

http://www.naturapet.com/brands/californ...

Taste of the Wild (grain-free)

http://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com

Timberwolf Organics

http://www.timberwolforganics.com

Blue Buffalo

http://www.bluebuff.com

Ziwi Peak (awesome grain-free food, but VERY expensive)

http://www.ziwipeak.com

The Honest Kitchen (has grain-free formulas)

http://www.thehonestkitchen.com

NOTE: Keep in mind that although these premium kibbles are more expensive than grocery store brands, you end up feeding LESS kibble each day because there are less fillers and more nutrition packed in each piece of kibble. Also, you end up spending less in the long run because of reduced trips to the vet's office (for whatever problems that arise from feeding bad quality food).
Reply:http://www.nutro.co.uk/

depending where you are from everyone has different opinions on which food is better..

why have you been told to change the food?

which food is your dog on already?
Reply:Wellness core, Nature's Variety Instinct, or Innova Evo are all really good grainless foods that would be great for a dog that size.

I went with wellness core myself but any of those would be wonderful!
Reply:I would avoid all foods that use a lot of cheap fillers, such as grains and beet pulp. Have used Canadie, Innova(gave my dog gas) for mine - she weighs 45 lbs.Am now feeding her Orijen, as she does very well on it, lot of energy and great coat.
Reply:Some really good dog foods are Canidae and Kirkland (you can buy it at Costco). Currently, I feed my dog Kirkland.

When I choose a dog food, I check the ingredients. Meat or meat meal needs to be the first ingredient, there can't be any byproducts, there should be no sweeteners like corn syrup or sugar, there should be no artificial flavorings like the red, blue, or yellow dyes, and there should be no fillers.

Some bad dog foods are Science Diet, Beneful, Iams, Purina, Pedigree, Eukanuba, and Cesar.

Changing your dog's food should be a gradual process. Start by adding a small amount of your dog's new food with their current food, gradually increasing the new food amount and decreasing their current food amount at each feeding. Continue this method for approximately one week.
Reply:depending on the type of dog, every one in here is going to answer as if they know what is the best food, because that's a personal preference. I suggest take into consideration your breed of dog, go to a pet store, and read each one, I know it is time consuming, but your the doggy owner, and that a part of it! You have to rad which is best for your concerns, you want healthy hair, some want healthy bones. Also, your asking people all over, there are going to be some dog food names on here you've never heard of! You have to research at your local pet store for your specific requirements. Good luck!
Reply:try Iams, they have many healthy food for dogs and come in many different sizes
Reply:I would suggest getting Pedigree Healthy Maturity ^^

Is it ok to cook a medium size beef roast on the grill?

i dont want to have to use the oven if i can avoid it, we love the grilled taste, and just want a change of pace from the traditional "oven roast". i am already planning on vegie kabobs and a salad, and was wondering, since i already have the grill going, why not cook the roast on it. it is a 3# beef roast with beautiful marbling, and since we like our steaks rar to medium rare, we thought it would be like an extra thick steak and just need to coook a while longer.

any input?

Is it ok to cook a medium size beef roast on the grill?
Just make sure you use indirect heat - put the coals in a circle around the edge of the barbecue, and cook the roast in the middle. Keep the lid on.
Reply:I would say that if your are only going to cook it for the length of time it takes a veggie kebab to cook then it'll be pretty raw through the middle.

If it is the grilled taste you are after, why dont you start it off in the oven to get it going , then finish it off on the grill
Reply:Good idea,I would make sure to marinate it so it will not dry out. When we put thick steaks or roast on the grill,we put ours in foil with onions, garlic, butter and peppers.Never dry.We make burritos with ours...
Reply:Why not use a cast iron pot with a lid The BBQ is a fancy camp fire do the whole 9 yards in the pot,, potatoes, onion, carrots, celery, broccoli, cauliflower,, Your pleasure..
Reply:Sounds great just keep an eye on it so you don't fry the outside and leave to inside raw. If your grill is gas put it on low, if not maybe cut it in half so you don't burn it. Have fun cooking!
Reply:i don't know the cut of beef you have. that will make all the difference. check with the store you bought it from to be sure. if it's a tenderloin or rib you should be fine.

i would marinade it, then cut a small piece and "pan " fry it to check the tenderness. i've done that before and realized i had a tough piece of meat and saved myself from disaster.

good luck
Reply:If you are using a charcoal grill, the cooking will be a little more difficult than if using a gas grill. However, if you have a thermometer you can monitor the temp. (of the grill and the interior of the meat) A must for anyone hesitant to try cooking something new on a grill. Indirect heat for the majority of the cook time. Wrap in foil to maintain moisture and even cooking.

Is there something I can make from household products to mimic the same effect as matte medium from liquitex?

I am referring to painting with acrylics. It was recommnded to me that there are better mediums to mix with acrylics than water. Something that will keep the paint from being too runny, easier to work with without losing control of the paint %26amp; without losing the color. Is there something I can use from regular household items to simulate this effect without purchasing a specific medium?

Is there something I can make from household products to mimic the same effect as matte medium from liquitex?
I use Gum Arabic or thinner to change the consistency and vibrancy. I have never heard of any common household items you could use...but both the things I use are fairly cheap.
Reply:Not unless you keep high-quality acrylic polymers around your house.

I would seriously advise against adulterating your paints with unknown substances. No telling what they could look like over time. And gum arabic is a component of watercolor. It's water-soluble, but I'm not sure it's really the ideal substance to put into plastic.

I would buy the acrylic medium. If that's not possible this weekend, continue using a little bit of water to thin.
Reply:Helene is 100% correct.

Reply:Using water to mix with acrylics breaks down the binders and separates the pigment.

Fini is a glaze medium that you can use to mix with acrylics And is totally matte.

How can honey as a medium kill microbes and prevent their growth?

Honey is a good antiseptic. Hospitals, in earlier times, sometimes used honey soaked dressings to prevent wounds from getting infected. Think and write how honey as a medium can kill microbes and prevent their growth.

How can honey as a medium kill microbes and prevent their growth?
The high sugar content of honey causes crenation (cells shrink) of microbes through osmosis. Since there is higher sugar content outside the cell wall of microbes compared to the inside, water tends to move out of the organism preventing its growth and ultimately killing it.

How should I mix paint medium and tempra paint?

My mom works at a day-care and wants to put childrens' footprints onto pieces of carpet fabric as a christmas gift. What is a safe percentage of medium to fabric paint that will be safe for the kids' feet but be permanent on the fabric?

How should I mix paint medium and tempra paint?
If you mix the two- the tempera will still wash out. How about tracing around the children's feet with a permanent marker and letting the children paint their feet outlines on the carpet . That way it is actually their art- and their feet.

How long does it take short hair to grow into long or medium hair?

Does it take long because I cant stand my hair being short.I cant do anything with it and I see long hair everywhere and feel like crying for it.How long does it take short layerd hair to grow back to a long or medium hair??

How long does it take short hair to grow into long or medium hair?
well depends on how short and how fast ur hair grows. i say give it a couple months. also, short is hair is very cute so u shouldnt be upset about it :]
Reply:.44 mm a day or about one half inch a month
Reply:at least half a year
Reply:it depends on how fast your hair grows, now im going to sound like your mom but if you want to enhance the length of your hair take your vitamins and drink 8 cups of water daily. it WILL help.
Reply:Hair grows about half an inch a month, six inches a year. You can probably get idea when looking at your hair how long it will take to get it to a medium style. I know how you feel because my hair was totally screwed up about ten months ago and it's still really bad. I'm actually going to have to cut mine if I ever want it to look like decent hair.Ten months of growing just to have to cut off a bunch of length. PS. The bit about bread crust is complete rubbish. There is nothing that will make hair grow faster.
Reply:depends. but taking vitamins b complex and c will definitely speed up the process. i saw 3 months to start shaping and another 3 months to show true lengths.
Reply:depends how fast your hair grows.........start takin vitamins and it will help it grow faster! :)
Reply:well, im pretty sure taht it depends on how many bread crusts you eat. i know taht sounds really stupid, but it works! bread crusts have speacial stuff in it, ( i forget wat it is called) but it makes your hair grow faster than with out
Reply:The barber told me hair grows 1/2 inch a month.
Reply:If you can't stand for your hair to be short, they why is it short?

There is really nothing you can do at this point but have patience. Sure, vitamins are good for healthy growth, but they won't really make it grow faster. Hair grows about 1/2 inch a month. I don't know how short your hair is at this point, but I would say to reach your goal you're looking at a window of 8 to 12 months.

In the meantime, don't focus all your energy and thought on your hair. Occupy your mind with other things. Dwelling on your short hair is only going to make you more miserable. It might help to try and jazz up and have a bit of fun with the hair you have now. Surely there is something you can do with it if you don't think it's very feminine the way it is now.

Good luck!

How many calories are there in a medium dunkin donuts caramel iced latte with whipped cream and sugar?

How many calories are there in a medium dunkin donuts caramel iced latte with whipped cream and sugar?
Look like 260 calories plus the calories in whipped cream and sugar you added so I'd estimate about 400-450 calories.

Are samoyeds classified as a medium or large breed?
Medium and as pastoral/working depending on which side of the pond you live. Although even a female sammy can easily put its front paws on your shoulders and will have the strength to pull you along on the lead when you go for a walk.

What is the best make-up to cover fine lines and small-medium pores?

I have some line lies on my chin area but I have small - medium sized pores all over my face. What is the best makeup that will cover these, BUT not make me look like I have makeup caked on. I use Bare Minerals right now, it doesn't give me that smooth looking skin. I think a primer would help, that fills in the pores right??

What do I use and where do I get it???

What is the best make-up to cover fine lines and small-medium pores?
I am a BE user buty have the pore issue as well. There are 2 things that I added to make a difference. 1. I started using the Philosophy Makeup Optional skin routine. See link below and 2. Smashbox Cosmetics makes a primer that also has spf in it and it is great stuff. Let it set for a few minutes before you apply foundation. See link for that as well. Good Luck!
Reply:I'd use a tinted moisturizer - it adds color and hides imperfections yet covers while adding moisture.

Then top it off with a mineral powder foundation.

Cosmetics are individual but I love Arbonne products they last all day, a little goes a L O N G way (bang for the buck)

and they are all natural and pure.
Reply:Look into Origins foundations. They are excellent for any kind of skin that you've got and any look that you want to achieve-
Reply:I like Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse. I have large pores along my nose and upper cheeks, and I find that the whipped texture of this foundation works best to cover them. Liquid foundations settle into them, while powders just seem to miss them altogether. I tried Bare Minerals recently and found that it actually highlighted my pores!

The only problem with the mousse is that you have to use it up fairly fast. After 3-4 months the stuff starts drying out a little in the container - it loses its nice whipped texture and starts feeling more spongy, and doesn’t glide on as nicely. At least it’s fairly inexpensive (compared to specialty or department store brands, anyway), so even if you have to throw some away every few months, it’s not so bad.
Reply:I have the same problem so I use Stila Oil Free Foundation and apply it with a makeup brush. If you have a local Sephora go there and they can let you try it on. It's wonderful because it gives a lot of coverage without looking caked on. Spackle is a good product for filling in places that need it. As for Bare Minerals as much as I love those products they are more for people WITHOUT problem areas on their face. To me it's more of a beauty enhancing product as opposed to being a full coverage product.

Try BSA media, or Bismuth Sulfite Agar. It will culture the Salmonella species specifically, and the colonies should be black and easily recognizable.

3 medium eggs greater/equal to 2 large eggs?

I normally buy medium eggs because they are cheaper and that is what I usually use when making scrambled eggs, etc. The chocolate cupcake recipe calls for 2 large eggs. Would 3 medium eggs be okay? I rather it be a little moist than dry.

3 medium eggs greater/equal to 2 large eggs?
For moist cupcake, 3 medium would work great.
Reply:According to the American Egg Board, you can do a direct 2 medium to 2 large substitution for eggs. A medium egg weighs around 1 3/4 oz(about 50g), while a large weighs around 2 oz(about 57 g).. So you can always get to about 4 oz (114 g) by weight if you want to be a little more exact..
Reply:That would be just fine.
Reply:Sounds about right...

You can usually use eggbeaters too.

I have used CibaSoft Colors in Evergreen ($120 per pair, long-term use lenses %26gt;1 Yr.), or Focus Monthly Softcolors in Evergreen ($160 for 4 boxes of 6 lenses per box short term use lenses %26lt;1 Mo.).

Those prices are from http://www.1800contacts.com

Reply:a light brown would be pretty, kind of like a caramel color
Reply:Light brown?
Reply:DO NOT GET BLOND!!! It just makes a brunette head look trashy. I would get a different color brunette or like a redish color
Reply:if i was you i would use caramel colors or maybe a dark blond look!!
Reply:Ok since your hair is medium brown I suggest the following colors:

medium red

caramel tones (lite %26amp; dark)

lite blonde (like gold)
Reply:light brown, or dirty blond
Reply:I have medium brown hair and about two years ago I started to high/lowlight my hair. You have to go to a great professional though....that's my opinion. I highlight with a blonde/dirty blonde and lowlight with darker browns. I have tried auburn/red tones for lowlights as well. I recommend the lowlighting because it adds dimension. I found that everytime I went back, I shifted the colors a little...that way I had more variety to my style.
Reply:I am going to through out a few options, golden brown, blond, maybe a burgundy red.

Can someone please give me a picture of someone carrying a medium carly coach bag?

I am thinking about getting a medium carly coach bag but wasn't sure and was wondering if anyone has a better picture of them other than the ones on the Coach website. If you have any other suggestions about a coach bag that is cuter, please let me know. Thanks to everyone that answers.

Can you change the medium of a public domain work and copyright it?

I recently bought a cd-rom of a work that has become public domain. The creator has taken the public domain work and scanned the pages, creating PDF files. He claims the work is copyrighted and can't be used without his permission. I am wondering is this possible? It's the same work he has just changed the medium.

Can you change the medium of a public domain work and copyright it?
Yeah, but not the words, only the format, font and text. You can't directly copy it, but you can TRANSFER IT, to say, Word for Windows or RTF, in a plain font.

Typesetting can be copyrighted if it is more than just random letters, unless the letters are new and unique (such as Lettraset Letters).

You can also add material to an PD work or change something about it. "House of the Rising Sun" is a PD musical composition, but Alain Price has a copyright on the new arrangement used by the Animals and gets a 10 or 15% royalty from that arrangement which endures into the year 2050.

Now, this does become a gray area. If the publisher took a PD book and scanned it and turned it not PDF, you can techically do the same thing. What you can't do is directly copy their formatting, fonts and indexing to such a degree that your book gets confused with their book.

What the publisher holds a copyright on is based on the NEW AND UNIQUE WORK they put into the new format. This means you can't clone it, but you can go to another original source book and scan that and market that yourself, provided YOU can show a court YOU did new and unique work in making the original.

But your work better not "resemble" their work more than 60% or you will need a good lawyer to beat that one!

In short, you can't copy their PDF files and distribute them, but if you make your OWN PDF files from another PD book you can't distribute that, but to be on the safe side I'd change fonts, add a new and unique introduction, maybe some original or PD graphics on pages to make your book DRASTICALLY different and unique.
Reply:You have good instincts. If he has not altered, transformed, or recast the original into a derivative work, then the answer is no. A derivative work is not just the same work in another file format. The expression must have changed in some way, not just a change to the technical system that causes the expression to be perceptible. His copyright would only extend to the original, creative additions to the text, images, etc., that he added to the public domain works; he would have no right at all in what already lies in the public domain. It sounds like he wants to revive a dead copyright and paste his name over the original authors'.

Here is an important exception, though. He might have no rights in the individual items, but he could have rights in the collection as a whole, if the selection and arrangement of its contents was somehow creative. It is a pretty flimsy copyright protection, because it basically only prohibits someone from reproducing the whole collection or almost all of it; a person can still take the individual pieces without infringing the copyright in the collection.
Reply:If something was verifiably in the public domain, then it can't be copyrighted, no matter how it was redone unless the redoing involved substantial creative change.

Will i need to give my medium hair cat a bath?

I have medium hair and short hair kittens, right now they are 9 weeks or so old. Will there be any reason for me to give them a bath, especially the medium haired one? i have heard that it isn't necessary unless they are sick or old and unable to groom themselves. If this is true, should i get my kittens used to water so it won't be such a fuss later on?

Will i need to give my medium hair cat a bath?
no, not untill they get a little older and smell
Reply:I have 2 loge haired cats and they are inside cats, They do clean themselves but I like to bath them just to be sure they are really clean atleast every 2 weeks. They are used to it now. If they were in/outside cats it would be more probably because if they get on your furniture. It's up to you, if it's something you will be doing throughout there entire life.
Reply:No cats clean themselves and it is not good for you to bathe them because they can catch a chill and get sick!
Reply:They shouldn't need a bath, unless they get dirty.
Reply:Generally, no, you don't need to bathe a cat. Regular brushing will do them a world of good though, and if you start them early, they tend to love it. It's great bonding time, too.

My short hair cat LOVES to be brushed. My long hair cat is less fond of it, in fact we have to hold him down to do it, but he keeps himself immaculately clean and groomed. We've only found knots in his hair twice and they were tiny. Of course, I've never seen anyone, human or animal, as vain as that cat!
Reply:My kitten likes water but I think that most cat's hate it. You shouldn't have to bath your cat, and if you do they sell a spray at wal mart or pet supplies that you just rub in and dry off that cleans them. I say getting your kitten used to water would be a good thing just for the sake of him not being afraid of it. Be aware though he might be a pain when he wants to play in the faucets and sleep in sinks like mine.lol
Reply:If they get really messy you might have to give them a bath. My cat frequently rolls around in his own feces sometimes and does not clean himself, so he has to have frequent baths.

And it is true that if you get them used to water as kittens, it will be easier. He started being naughty early on and fought at first, but now he is a pro in the water.

How do you determine washing machine load size? How many medium t-shirts is 5kg?

I recently bought a 5kg capacity washing machine. How much medium sized t-shirts can I load? My machine is a top loader, with no agitator. Does the load limit include the water or just the laundry?

Btw, 5kg. is approx. 11lbs. Thanks!

How do you determine washing machine load size? How many medium t-shirts is 5kg?
I count. Ten shirts is a load, seven pairs of pants is a load, queen-size sheet set (including pillowcases and pillow protectors) is a load.

I have a slightly larger machine, now, so it's two more shirts, one more pair of pants and one more sheet or throw.

Towels are funny. I use less soap with them, and believe it or not, four bath sheets is a full load.
Reply:It's easier to experiment with your washer load. The first time, fill the tub half-full with clothing (not packed down), set for high water level, then run it. Check during the wash and during the rinse for good movement of the clothing in the water. If the movement is good, next time try a 3/4-full load. Usually, if you load the tub to the top, it's too much, but this varies from washer to washer. Just keep experimenting until you can get the maximum amount of load in for each of the different water levels.
Reply:I use a laundry basket that would hold about a bushel. I drop clothes in it without packing, and when it is full, that's a large load. I have found that 5 pairs of adult sized jeans is a load. Sheets for 2 full sized beds is a load. By the way, my washers last for years without repairs because they're never over-loaded.
Reply:use the manufacture's suggestions, but dont jam pack your clothes into washer, keep it loose and free. load limit refers to the amount of clothe's , make sure the clothe's limit also matches the water level selector as well.

not sure who the manufacturer is, but most have directions and literature with the unit, and instruction under the lid.
Reply:Just the laundry. You put clothes in without packing them in and when the washer is about three fourths full, it is a load.
