My homework ask for medium, which i am unable to find on the net. Can anyone help?

Most microscopes have lenses that magnify 4 times, 10 times, 40 times, and 100 times (called the 4x, 10x, 40x and 100x lenses, respectively. However, because they also have eyepieces that magnify 10 times, the total magnification possible is 40, 100, 400 and 1000 times. Because the 100x lens is an oil immersion lens, your teacher probably meant the middle of the three, lower power normal lenses. Thus, it would be the 40x lens.

low is usually 40 x
