How much food does a medium-sized dog eat each day?

I'm trying to work out how much it would cost me to keep a dog.


He'll only be exercising once a day. I wont spend money on the luxury dog foods, but at the same time I want him to get a healthy balance %26amp; variety of taste-experiences.


What is the recommended daily amount of dry dog-foods and tinned dog-meats to feed an average mature medium-size dog? If you keep such a dog, what do you feed it %26amp; how much do you spend?

i have 2 german shepherds crosses and i buy and big bag of cheap dry dog food that is low in protein for £7 and this lasts them 2 weeks. i also buy the big tins of cheap dog meat that last them about 5 days. my dogs both get fed twice a day and also get taken a walk once a day.


so that gives you an idea how much it will cost you.

Reply:Walk into any pet store and check out the dog food aisle. On each bag of almost any brand, there will be a chart, explaining how many cups to feed your dog based on their age and weight. Find out the adult weight of the breed you’re considering and figure it out based on the chart.





Don’t listen to anyone who says “three bowls a day” or “one bowl a day” because all bowls are different sizes!





You should also know a medium sized dog (or any dog, really) needs much more than one exercise session unless that one session is extremely long and vigorous. If you don't have the time to exercise it more often than that, then please consider waiting for a time in your life when you will have the time you will need.





Also, how much exercises he gets will not change the amount of food he needs. If you’re thinking of keeping him calm so he won’t need to eat as much and you'll save money, your plan will not work.
Reply:i have a large staffie cross who eats approx two cupfulls of iams dry dog food three times a day,i also have a bichon frise who eats a handful three times a day! It will cost you approx ten-fifteen pounds a week for a medium sized dog..
Reply:You should only feed your dog once a day with one tin of dog food if its a medium dog. With maybe some dogie biscuits in their food. Just be aware of those vets bills if you want to keep a dog they can get quite expensive. But the normal run of the mill up keep of a dog isn't too bad.

Reply:you shouldn't buy a dog!!! get a goldfish! dogs need excercising 3 times a day and feeding twice. do not buy a dog if you intend to neglect it
